Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages

What is Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages all about?

Understanding and having the ability to speak English is a requirement in most occupations and professions and as a consequence, over a billion people speak English to at least a basic level. Modern English is the dominant international language of business, science, communications, entertainment and diplomacy.

This course engages people who have come to the UK from a foreign country and who would like to learn the English language. Learning English is one of the first steps that will help non-English speakers to find their way in the new host country, whether this is at school, finding and holding down a job or simply carrying out day-to-day activities.

During the course sessions participants will look closely at the way that the English language is put together, using vocabulary and applying the rules of grammar to form sentences and understand how meaning is derived from these elements.

Our course tutors will tailor their training delivery style to the individual learner’s needs, taking into consideration their motivations for learning, their language background and their capabilities.

Each of our tutors will use creative approaches and a variety of learning tools such as videos, workbooks, audio and interactive group work to challenge and stimulate the students.
