Course Summary
This qualification supports the new post of designated premises supervisor created by the Licensing Act 2003. It is designed to provide designated premises supervisors with an understanding of their role and the responsibilities.
The Licensing Act 2003 brought about a new post called the Designated Premises Supervisor. This role was created by Local Government in conjunction with the police and the licensed trade industry. The qualification addresses the roles and responsibilities of the Designated Premises Supervisor and the day-to-day issues that may be faced whilst running a licensed premises. The qualification is aimed at existing Personal Licence Holders and those who became licensees through grandfather’s rights. Licensed premises include venues, such as:
- Pubs & bars
- Sports and social clubs
- Hotels & restaurants
- Nightclubs and entertainment establishments
- Off-Licences, supermarkets and convenience stores
- Any other venue or site where alcohol is sold
