BIIAB Level 3 Profitable Business Portfolio
The BIIAB devised the Profitable Business Portfolio (PBP) to improve peoples’ business skills and give candidates a practical knowledge of how to run a productive and profitable business. The course would be most beneficial for experienced licensed retailers and anyone who owns or manages a licensed hospitality business, such as;
- Pubs & bars
- Restaurants
- Night-clubs
- Hotels
What is the course all about?
The Profitable Business Portfolio programme is made up of 13 stand-alone units, with each unit counting for an individual qualification. Candidates can pick and choose which units that they wish to take, and study them at their own pace. However, for a more structured approach, Access Training offer a nationally accredited series of qualifications on successful completion of specified units.
What qualifications can I achieve through the Profitable Business Portfolio development programme?
On completion of the 3 following core units;
- Unit 1 – Profit & Loss and Budget Control
- Unit 2 – Understanding your Market
- Unit 3 – Motivating your Team
you will successfully gain your BIIAB Level 3 Advanced Certificate in Licensed Hospitality.
Access Training believe that for candidates to reach optimal gain whilst undertaking the PBP qualification, focus and commitment is critical. We also understand that studying whilst dealing with the day-to-day pressures of everyday working life can be too much at times. For this reason we have devised the 4 day residential PBP study programme. Study at ease in the beautiful setting of the South West and really get to grips with this qualification with our 4 day study programme.
The Level 3 Advanced Certificate in Licensed Hospitality is a qualification which stems from the Profitable Business Portfolio development programme. Candidates must cover 3 core units:
- Unit 1 - Profit & loss and budget control - teaches candidates how to construct profit and loss budgets, monitor performance and improve management controls in order to increase profitability and their negotiating power with line managers, external clients and accountants.
- Unit 2 - Understanding your market - aims to help candidates establish a clearly defined and marketable vision for their business. By understanding how to apply a range of market research data and techniques, candidates will be able to identify potential customer groups and clearly define those customers’ needs in order to create an appropriate offer for their business.
- Unit 3 - Motivating your team - shows candidates how to apply motivational theory to the operation of a licensed hospitality business, and develop an understanding of how to build and lead an effective team.
Those who achieve the Level 3 Advanced Certificate in Licensed Hospitality can proceed to take their Level 3 Diploma in Licensed Hospitality. The Diploma enables licensed retail operators to broaden their management and business development skills, in subject areas specific to their business requirements. They must study a further 4 out of 10 additional course units. It is entirely down to the individual candidate, which units they choose to study. The unit subjects include:
- Unit 4 – Customer Service procedures
- Unit 5 – Training Design and Delivery
- Unit 6 – Sales Promotion
- Unit 7 – Business Planning
- Unit 8 – Merchandising and Selling
- Unit 9 – Introducing a new Catering Offer
