What's it all about?
The Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work is aimed at learners who wish to become first-aiders in the workplace. The course covers topics including: The roles and responsibilities of the First Aider, assessing an incident, recognising signs and symptoms of injury and illness, assisting a casualty who is suffering from major injury and illness, chest injuries, spinal injuries and anaphylaxis.
Is it suitable for me?
This qualification is ideal for those already working, or preparing to work within the industry who are wishing to become a First Aider in the workplace for the purposes of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982. Once this qualification is achieved it must be renewed every 3 years to remain valid.
How will I be assessed?
The Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work is assessed by the learner undertaking a practical assessment of their competence along with a short open response knowledge assessment, where learners are required to provide a short response to a prescribed series of questions. This qualification is registered on the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) at Level 3 and has a credit value of 3.
