The Level 3 Certificate for Working as a Close Protection Operative within the Private Security Industry has been developed to meet the requirements of the SIA, based on their specification for learning and qualifications for Close Protection Operatives. It provides the necessary skills and knowledge for those who wish to apply for an SIA licence and work as a Close Protection Operative. The qualification comprises of 3 mandatory units: Working as a Close Protection Operative, Planning, Preparing and Supporting a Close Protection Operation & Conflict Management within the Private Security Industry.
Is it suitable for me?
Under the Private Security Industry Authority Act 2001, all individuals wishing to work in the private security industry must undertake a recognised qualification before applying for a licence. You must be 18 years old and be able to meet the minimum language skills as laid out by the SIA. When applying for a close protection licence, you will be required to produce evidence that you hold a recognised First Aid qualification. This qualification is the first step you need to take in becoming an SIA approved Close Protection Operative.
How will I be assessed?
This qualification is assessed on the successful completion of the learners portfolio and the completion of externally set, multiple-choice examinations. This qualification is registered on the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) at Level 3 and holds a credit value of 17.
